Site under construction

I'm an FAA Certified Drone Pilot (UAS) and have been flying Drones since 2007.

My History With Drones

At first Drones were too expensive for the average hobbyist. In 2006 Nintendo came out with the Nintendo Wii and that changed everything. Built into the Hand Controller was an inexpensive electronic gyroscope. We would solder the gyro to a Cirus Circuit Board, then download software from several sites and started learning to fly it.

Over the next couple of years the software got better and newer circuit boards came with a gyroscope mounted on the board.

Barometric Sensors were getting better so we had stable altitude control. At some point a genius in Belgium wrote software to wire a GPS sensor to the Navigation Board, now it could hold position. They were pretty good camera platforms.

Cameras, usually a GoPro, went from fixed, to gimball, to full gyro controlled.

Now, for under $1000, you can get a very capable Factory Drone with a great camera, longer flight times, and programmable missions. The technology is getting better and less expensive.
